Biography

Marek Lipiński is an associate professor in the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow. He studied at the University of Silesia in Katowice at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the field of Physics. From the beginning of his professional career he was involved in the physics and technology of solar cells. He obtained his Ph.D. in physics from Warsaw University of Technology in 1992. The title of Doctor of Sciences of technical sciences in material engineering was conferred by the Scientific Council of the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow in 2012. His habilitation dissertation was awarded the Siemens promotion prize. He performs the functions of a member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Krakow and the head of the accredited Laboratory in Photovoltaic Laboratory of IMMS PAS.

His main research interests concern physics and photovoltaic technology, perovskite solar cells, plasmonics, third generation photovoltaics.
