Monika Asztemborska received a PhD on Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Warsaw, and than she continued her scientific activity at the Faculty of Biology,
University of Warsaw. Currently she is a Head of the Isotope Laboratory. Her research interests lie in the ecotoxicology, environmental safety and risk assessment of various harmful
substances, including radionuclides and nanomaterials. Dr Asztemborska uses unique possibilities offered by isotope techniques to study nanoparticles bioavailability and circulation in the environment. Her studies are also focused on environmentally friendly methods of decontamination of water and soil, based on fito- and mycoextraction of contaminants, including nanoparticles.
