Piotr Kowalczewski holds the position of R&D Team Leader at XTPL since September 2016. His team works on numerical simulations of XTPL processes and advanced analysis of experimental data. Moreover, he is responsible for building IP portfolio of the company. In 2011‒2015 he took a prestigious PhD scholarship as part of the EU’s Marie Curie ITN (PROPHET project) at the University of Pavia, Italy, where he defended his doctoral thesis on the simulation of optical and electrical phenomena in solar cells with disordered photonic structures. He was a research scientist at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, and at STMicroelectronics, Catania, Italy. He presented his research findings at multiple international conferences in Europe and the US. He completed a number of specialised training courses on photonics, optoelectronics and material engineering in Germany, UK, France and Italy. He co-authored more than 20 frequently cited scientific papers in the field of physics, optics and numerical simulations, as well as 5 patent applications.
