Dr Sameer S Rahatekar is a Senior Lecturer in Composites and Advanced Materials Research Centre, School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing at Cranfield University, UK.
He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Cambridge and postdoctoral researcher at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST, a US Federal research lab working on advanced scientific measurements techniques).
He joined Cranfield University, Composites and Advanced Materials as a research lecturer in Manufacturing in Oct 2016, where he is working on developing advanced composites, nanocomposites and textiles for aerospace and engineering applications. He is a world-leading expert in sustainable polymer fibres, nanocomposites, and composites manufacturing (leading a research group with 8 PhD and 2 MSc by research students.
He secured total research grant funding over £1 million plus as direct value to Cranfield. In total, he participated in securing total research grants equivalent to £6.9 million as PI and Co-I from EPSRC, Innovate UK, the British Council, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and industrial research funding.
