Martin Smolka, works at the applied research organization JOANNEUM RESEARCH in Austria. He coordinates the H2020 EU project NextGenMicrofluidics. He studied physics (diploma), as well as materials science (PhD). His main focus is in the field of microfluidics for applications in medical diagnostics, on-chip cell cultivation and environmental monitoring.
His relevant previous positions:
- Post Doc at Vienna University of Technology, working on a microfluidic sensor for plant nutrient measurement (2012 – 2013).
- Product engineer at Pessl Instruments, industrial implementation of the previously investigated plant nutrient sensor (2014-2016).
- Senior Researcher and Project Coordinator at JOANNEUM RESEARCH since 2016 (most relevant projects R2R Biofluidics and currently NextGenMicrofluidics)
