Mathias Köhler

Dr. Mathias Köhler is group leader at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research (IAP), Division: Polymeric Materials and Composites (PYCO) and he is currently responsible for structural testing and analytics. His current research is focused on optical polymers and bio based composites for lightweight applications. Especially, the research attends the utilization of nanocomposites as cladding materials for optical glass fibers and polymeric waveguides for medical and micro-optical applications as well as materials processing. The focus is on development of novel thermosetting materials and adjustment of their thermal, mechanical and optical properties. Additionally alternate curing methods (UV and microwave curing) are studied.
