Professor Sławomir Boncel, Ph.D., D.Sc., Eng. graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry at the Silesian University of Technology with a degree in chemical technology (2004). In 2009, he defended his Ph.D. in organic chemistry with distinction. In 2015, he obtained his habilitation degree in nanocarbon chemistry, and in 2021, he was awarded the title of professor.
He completed a 15-month postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge (UK), funded by the Foundation for Polish Science. Currently, he is the leader of the NanoCarbon Group and a lecturer at his Alma Mater.
He has led numerous interdisciplinary research projects, including TANGO (NCBR), KOLUMB, IMPULS (FNP), IUVENTUS PLUS (MNiSW), SONATA, and 2x OPUS (NCN).
He is the author of 80 publications in JCR-listed journals (Hirsch index: 19, with over 1,300 citations).

His research focuses on the synthesis, physicochemistry, and applications of carbon nanoallotropes (carbon nanotubes, graphene, quantum dots), including:
