Vice-Rector for Digitalization and Cooperation with the Economy, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Professor of Physics, Faculty of Physics and NanoBioMedical Centre, AMU
Michał Banaszak graduated in 1985 with a degree in Physics from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He received his Ph.D. in Physics in 1991 under the supervision of Professor Mark Whitmore at Memorial University in St. John’s, Canada, specializing in polymer physics. From 1992 to 1995, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Professor Maciej Radosz at Exxon Research & Engineering Co. in Annandale, USA, focusing on the theory and modeling of polymer solutions.
Between 1995 and 1997, he held a research associate position with Professor Julian Clarke at the Department of Chemistry at UMIST in Manchester, UK, where he specialized in large-scale computer simulations of ionic copolymers. He returned to Adam Mickiewicz University in 1997, becoming associate faculty and later earning a D.Sc. in Physics in 2004, with a focus on soft matter and computational modeling.
Prof. Banaszak currently serves as Vice-Rector for Digitalization and Cooperation with the Economy at AMU. He is also a Professor at the Faculty of Physics and the NanoBioMedical Centre, where he leads the High Pressure Physics Division. His research interests include developing novel models and computational methods for nanoscale self-assembly in complex copolymer systems. He actively collaborates with experimental researchers to validate theoretical predictions and to design efficient simulation algorithms and codes.
